'IV Capoeiroo Beribazu' Capoeira Grading & Workshops 1-3 Nov 2019
The name 'Capoeiroo' is a mix of Capoeira + Kangaroo :)
Warning:a bit of long reading, but please read till the end!
WHAT IS IT?
Also called Batizado & Grading, this is an event where students participate in a number of workshops and get their first corda (belt in Portuguese) or upgrade their corda, depending on their progress and commitment to the group.
More than belts, the event is a great opportunity for you to learn and play capoeira with different teachers and students from other schools - and you'll certainly make lots of new friends too :)
The event usually has a mix of Capoeira, music, and history workshops thought by various teachers/Masters plus a special grading 'ceremony/roda' to hand over the cordas.
These events have a festive mood, being vibrant and energizing, they get you even more excited to continue your Capoeira journey.
The event is open to all Capoeira schools and we always have many students from other schools attending. This works in reciprocity: we always attend their events (and encourage you to attend them too!) so that they come to ours.
Pequeno and I are facilitators for it to happen, however, this is a team effort and everyone is expected to get involved, help and have lots of fun!
THIS YEAR'S EVENT
The event will be held as per below (schedule may vary slightly):
Sun 3/11 (10am-1pm + BBQ after): workshop, roda, and bbq
This year, our dear Mestre Falcao from Brazil, under whose guidance Pequeno and I have been training for 22 and 17 years, respectively, will be one of our guests.
The event is also open to the wider community and your dear ones are welcome! They're likely to enjoy watching the grading ceremony on Saturday afternoon.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
You are highly encouraged to take part, no matter how long you have been training or your level of experience. The event is a great opportunity for you to learn from different teachers and interact with students from different schools.
Depending on your progress, you may get a belt. We will chat with you about it in class. Regardless, the event is an opportunity to learn more and make new friends, so get on board!
HOW MUCH?
The event fee is $125 for Beribazu students
$100 for students from other schools for all three days
